A blind corner as cars are speeding up for the motorway. There is space to stop. Maybe try along London Road but there’s not many good spots to stop around the roundabout―Breno

traffic is not crazy, but this is still my pick of choice to get to england from france. i've had varying luck ranging from rides in 2h to, this time, getting there at 18:30 and only getting a lift at 10:00, with only 4h spent sleeping. i strongly recommend asking around, maybe with a sign.not huge amounts of traffic but very solid proportion of UK cars (seasonally dependent). i've found that many english cars can be downright mean and are often full, but don't get discouraged! there are also some nice ones worth waiting for.
easy enough to give up and go to calais if you're in a rush.
indoor bits close at 22:00 but i believe the one opposite stays open.
someone called the cops and staff lady vouched for me so they apologised and left me alone

Had been waiting outside petrol station for a couple hours before we realised that 90% of the traffic was entering not leaving the services. Switched spots and got offered a few lifts until eventually we got one into london within half an hour―ActingOutColours

Walked here from Leuven, asked around, two of them were going to Brussels and the third one happened to be a couple living near London, so I got a ride from here through Eurotunnel all the way to north of London. And they ended up being worried that I will get stuck hitchhiking out of the London bubble, so they bought be a crazy expensive train ticket to Manchester, so I got to my friend’s place by the evening! ☺️―anettlee17

Stood at the entrance to the petrol station and got a lift heading into London. Also got offered a lift to Milton Keynes inside the services when seen walking around with sign. Not loads of traffic but decent spot―ActingOutColours

Have done thid spot a couple times and with a 'Cambridge' sign we(Male & Female) seem to get lifts faster than it took to make the sign―ActingOutColours

I've stopped here twice while hitchhiking south from Scotland to London. First time got a ride to Birmingham, and the second time to London. Both pretty quickly. Plus the services are comfortable, with free toilets, charging sockets etc. I would definitely stop here again when looking for a longer-distance ride.―mossenmoons

Either this is an excellent spot, it I just had excellent luck. But I waited five minutes, and the second car already stopped, and I got a ride all the way to Leeds. I had a sign saying "A1 - North".―mossenmoons

REDBRIDGE ROUNDABOUT A12 towards Chelmsford, Colchester and Ipswich. Big parking space, with lots of traffic going by. Might take a few rides to get out of London from here, but a great starting point and it's easily accessible by tube (Redbridge station).―Anonymous

It's worked a few times, but there are far better spots to get out of London on the A12. Try Redbridge roundabout further down.―Anonymous

I have used this point spoted by Lnx. I got a lift here in 10 minutes, but I didnt find it very save. To arrive to this point, I took the underground to henton central, then I walked to the place (15 minutes). In the bus stop Tilling Road, 2 minutes far from the spot, the buses number 112, 142, 182, 232, 266, 611. You can catch a bus rather than the underground. This place is hard to find if you dont have a London city map with you.―Anonymous
