Had been waiting outside petrol station for a couple hours before we realised that 90% of the traffic was entering not leaving the services. Switched spots and got offered a few lifts until eventually we got one into london within half an hour―ActingOutColours

The lanes are really wide, no heavy traffic, so cars can stop with no risk.―Kub

Well you are hitchhiking behind the highway sign so not a good position. But a good way to get to Cambridge and on.―Anonymous

I can't say how good this place is, since I got picked up from a relative of a driver, who drove me earlier that day! Cars can stop next to the road on the green, but it might not be as intuitive, as for example a bus stop.―Anonymous

Walked away from the airport, seeking the run up to M11 North, but this was the farthest I could get. Cars are driving fast, and are coming around the corner, they can stop on the green next to the road, but it's not as intuitive as for example a bus stop. Took a decent time to get a ride.―Anonymous

Eventhough, there is a McDonald's here, and a gas station, it took me two hours, on a late wednesday morning to get a ride north on the A10. Cars a are driving by fast, and there is loads of them. Technically conditions should be really good, but I had a tough time here.―Anonymous

Walked here from Epping. Pretty decent spot but there are little walkways in the roundabout.―Anonymous

There is a little space for vehicles to stop just before it begins on the motorway.―Anonymous

I've hitchhiked from the services at Stansted Airport twice, both times waiting about 20 minutes, but had cars apologizing that they were going the wrong direction. Having a sign is an absolute must. (The staff at the restaurants are very friendly and gave me cardboard and wished me luck) The truckers I spoke to were very kind and helped me out by taking me all the way to Leicester, but you can really get most places from here. The actual exit isn't that great of a spot so I suggest going to the gas station exit where there's plenty of room to stop and you're very visible to drivers leaving and it's also opposite the trucker parking.―Anonymous

Very frequent offers for lifts, but all heading in the wrong direction (apparently) up North - we were trying to head South. Standing on this point you can ask all the customers coming out the drive through with their windows down so easy to talk. to everyone. Eventually got a lift along the M25 from someone taking pity on us, while he was parked eating his lunch.―louie

Waited for just over 2 hours for a lift on a Friday morning, trying two different signs - M11s / SOUTH. 2 cars stopped before but were heading the wrong way. Good flow of traffic but very few heading onto the M11 southbound, only 1 car every 30s took the junction. People tend to use J12 higher up to leave Cambridge, although harder to find somewhere to stand.―louie

Good spot to stand and people can stop on the bus stop. but not that many cars go to Cambridge―Anonymous

We were trying to hitchhike, no one was stopping and a guy called us a cab to Cambridge and payed for it (God bless him) I guess hitchhiking is dead in 2023.―Anonymous

Tried to hitch from here on a Friday morning, was offered a lift heading South but didn't have a chance to get in - you have to be very quick as the lights change very quickly. Good amount of cars heading onto the M11s however. Ended up getting a ride from the McDonalds on the other side of the roundabout.―louie
