Small layby opposite Cirencester College. Its a bit of a walk from the town centre, but excellent spot for a lift to Stroud or beyond.―Anonymous

A layby. It's a fast road so best to stand well ahead of the layby to give drivers time to see you and pull in.―Anonymous

Hitchers are very visible and its easy for cars to stop. If you're going to Cheltenham or Gloucester, its best not to take a lift to where the route splits- its a fast, dangerous junction. Its better to wait till you can get a lift to your destination. That said, if you're destination is Cheltenham and you're offered a lift to Painswick it's possibly worth taking it.―Anonymous

June 2025 - M40 west. After giving up on a spot in London I went here. About 30 mins walk from the train station, you have to smash down some brambles and it is a slipway so technically not legal, but it took no time at all and I actually got all the way to my destination in the Cotswolds―Anonymous

A bit of space for cars to stop but plenty of opportunity for them to see you. Many roads further up though, plenty of offers for short lifts or towns you’re not going to―Breno

Plenty of cars slowly making their way past right before hitting the motorway. Great for northbound travel. Not the perfect spot if you’re going east to the Cotswolds but I got lucky―Breno
