Best spot heading out of stroud south cos youve filtered a lot of local traffic by this point. If you can get a ride to the glider cafe then youre sorted towards ciren, swindon or london.―Gdapain

Spot is on the other side of the road. Waited a couple of minutes with a sign saying Stroud and then a guy stopped and went out of his way to take me to Nailsworth.―Wienerpolser

Hitchers are very visible and its easy for cars to stop. If you're going to Cheltenham or Gloucester, its best not to take a lift to where the route splits- its a fast, dangerous junction. Its better to wait till you can get a lift to your destination. That said, if you're destination is Cheltenham and you're offered a lift to Painswick it's possibly worth taking it.―Anonymous

Small layby opposite Cirencester College. Its a bit of a walk from the town centre, but excellent spot for a lift to Stroud or beyond.―Anonymous
