The only wide pull-off to get down the A429 (cotswolds). Folk not as friendly as in Scotland, but you should be able to get a ride here.

The original Spaghetti junction - never tried it myself, but I can image it'd be average to bad, although in walking distance from Birmingham city center and also safely reachable on foot. Cars have space to pull over, go past quite quckly in two lanes, though. Also there's quite a lot of police going past.

For some reason or other the Midlands have some of the worst services in the country. The Spaghetti junction you shouldn't use, because you will never get a lift. If your heading towards manchester, try to get a train or bus to Stafford, and hitch from there, the next few service areas Northbound are horrific for rides Northbound, you could end up in one of these old fashioned services for over 24 hours...train / bus stafford, believe me, it will take the strain of hitch hiking off you, north stafford and you wont have problems going north,

Can get here by bus. Pretty dangerous spot but only took about 20 minutes to get a lift in this specific place.
