You can access the Channel Tunnel entrance from Ashford road (A20) slip-road, and hitch from there before the viaduc trying to catch the traffic from the highway as cars can safely pull over around or after the viaduc, the toll booths are still 800 yards away and there is no cctv to be used as deterrents.―Anonymous

Looks like a good place to hitch the Channel, but I was caught by the Eurotunnel security after 20 minutes of waiting (about 10 cars passed). They were quite friendly, but told me the Eurotunnel compagny has an anti-hitchhiker policy, and also that they are patrolling by car all the time, and I would be sent away even if I found a car from somewhere else. I didn't try to prove they were wrong and found a car in the ferry three hours later.―Anonymous

The thing is that you mustn't hitch in the tunnel train and when people book their tickets they need to claim how many people there are in the car so they don't stop. I got to the train area but was drove back to Dover by a policeman. It esaier to take the ferry.―Zdzich

Me and my girlfriend stood on the exit roundabout for two minutes with an EU sign and a guy picked us up, took us on the ferry and drove us all the way to Brugge in Belgium.I think this station is good because the cars for Europe go either to the Eurotunnel or on the ferry.

Hitched from here in summer, two men, still took quite long. Last services before dover / folkestone, a lot of people crossing the thames but most full cars.―Anonymous

Two guys trying to get over the channel. Gave up after 3 hours. We don't look dodgy either.―Davies

As mentioned above, Anti-Hitchhike policy of the staff. your best bet would be to ask lorries, or stand with your shield at one of the Roundabouts. Good luck! May patience be with you―Erth Walker

Very busy roundabout. Not so easy for cars to stop, but I managed a ride onto the Channel Tunnel Shuttle in less than half an hour.―Anonymous

somewhere here on the motorway is a shell petrol station. it seems useful, but the guard (june 2011) there was a very annoying person who threatened us and kicked us off - despite heavy rain "you can't hitchhike on shell property!" was his remark. if you can avoid it, do so.―Anonymous
