Really good spot, lots of charging ports for teslas - traffic go all ways but there’s lots of it. Met the only other hitchhiker I’ve ever seen in the uk here so it’s got an automatic 5/5―Kjmurray1230

This is a massive rest stop. I can highly recommend it. But when walking around the trucks, I had no luck (it took me about 45 minutes). After that, I moved to the exit with just thumbing with a sign, and it was pretty fast all the way to Leeds.―martih

Awesome spot for hitching. Large gas station. And there is an awesome view of the lake if you have a time to chill out I highly recommend to check it out.―martih

Lots of cars stopped but most were going to Birmingham or up the M6. I was hoping to get onto the M1 but gave up and went up the M6―Anonymous

Picked up by two lovely Italian tourists. There are long sections of parking on both sides of the road at this point, so it's easy for drivers to pull in. Due to the exposure and lack of public transport, a lot of people will take pity on you and offer to drive you west (to Glossop) or east (to Sheffield).―HearHere

Slip road going onto motorway from Birch services. Go East on M62 from here or West from other side. To get here take bus 167 from Manchester Centre, get off by The White Heart pub and walk down Whittle Lane to get to service station - 10 mins.―Anonymous

Layby in easy walking distance from central Manchester. Good for hitching south. Traffic fast but a good place for it to stop.―Anonymous
