[A38 EASTBOUND]It took a matter of seconds holding up a "DERBY :)" sign in order to get me a hitch there on a recent sunny weekday afternoon. This spot is a safe 1.9 mile walk from Lichfield Trent Valley Station, well connected to Birmingham and the West Coast Main Line. One thing to be wary of is that the layby is not long after the brow of a hill and traffic is moving quickly so it's advisable to stand closer to the exit of the layby so as to allow traffic the time to stop.

It's an alright spot with space. Most cars do go to Bham though so you'll have to be lucky to find one that takes you north. Only got a short ride from there but it was enough to take me further away from Birmingham.―Elv
