This is a massive rest stop. I can highly recommend it. But when walking around the trucks, I had no luck (it took me about 45 minutes). After that, I moved to the exit with just thumbing with a sign, and it was pretty fast all the way to Leeds.―martih

Asking around at this truck station is your best bet instead of the ramps. Trucks tend to be heading South especially in the evening but there are literally a hundred rigs there later in the day, and although most are laid up you will probably be able to get a night journey. There is a Cafe (expensive) where you can chat to drivers or just walk around with a sign, which works for me. Had one of the best rides ever in the UK from here.―Anonymous

Good spot from Liverpool to Wales. Take a train or bus to Hooton, and walk 15-20 minutes. Do not waste your time at the petrol station or the church - walk PAST those places - this junction is more visible and has more space for drivers to stop.
