Be friendly, super polite and you will get a lift towards Brighton or London. If you are patient it is probably worth it to ask for longer distances and not go with people that are just going shorts to Portsmouth or Winchester.

found a lift in under a minute! (probably luck) best place to stand, as you get traffic from the services and petrol station.. with great visibility and lots of space to stop

found a lift in 4 minutes (who was going the wrong way) and then another in 2! Not a perfect place for cars to stop but plenty of visibility. Only great for going west towards M3 or further down the M27.. if you want to go east towards Portsmouth, it will be more tricky, as the cars will be three lanes away
