I left Neil’s apartment at four, and took the 16 bus from the Delmar Loop 20 min down Skinker to Shrewsbury, right near exit 284 on I-44. I waited by the highway ramp for about 45 min, but I realized it was still urban enough that it would be pretty hard to catch a ride. At 5:30 I went to catch the 16 again, and took it all the way to the end of the line at the Shrewsbury transit center. I barely caught the 21 bus, and took that to Crestwood, and walked up to Kirkwood, right near exit 277A. I got to the highway ramp at about 6:15 and waited for half an hour until I got my first ride. I forget the guy's name but he worked in construction and lived in Washington, MO. He grew up in East St. Louis, and had a pretty rough upbringing. Many people in his family were in and out of jail. He mentioned how his brother used to pick up hitchhikers while he was drinking and then make them drive him around. He talked about how Jesus changed his life. He was very intent on sharing the Gospel with me. He had been a missionary in El Salvador and now he built houses of faith for people coming out of jail in St. Louis. He asked me if I was sure if I was going to heaven, and talked about how anyone could die at any time. He had a friend who just got into an accident a couple weeks ago near Rolla, and just like that he was gone. That is why it is important to accept Jesus. He discussed how every day more and more prophecies from the Old and New Testament were coming true. How everything happened because God said it would happen. After about 25 minutes of driving down I-44, he got off at Exit 251 near Villa Ridge, and dropped me off.
