Arrived in front of the gas station in the morning to hitch a ride to Nashville and didn't get a ride till 3pm. Cops didn't bother us, but relatively few friendly faces and only one ride offer (requesting payment) before we got picked up by a friendly conservative Chatanooga man who originally was going to take us a few towns towards Nashville but ended up taking us all the way to downtown. He told us this is not a good part of town but everyone other than drivers was very friendly to us here.

WATCH OUT FOR THE JACKASS COPS IN ASHEVILLE!! ANYWHERE IN ASHEVILLE!! THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER AT ANY OPPORTUNITY! Anyways, we got to this gas station, got some snacks, sat down on the curb, and someone noticed our sign right before we were about to fold it up and beckoned us over to offer us a ride to Huntsville, Alabama. It seems like people passing through Asheville through to Tennessee stop at this gas station! We ended up stopping at Chattanooga TN instead because we figured Chattanooga would have more or as much Nashville traffic as Huntsville.

First couple I asked picked me up after saying no first. They made room specifically for me to get inside and offered me a nice ride along the country.

Asked for rides at the Shell Station.
Talked to very nice people in majority, who gave me prayers, warm clothes, food, drinks & cash.
The gas station employee even brought me hot food at some point.
One of them even offer to host me in his AirBNB if I couldn't find a ride.

Avoid the BP next to it, I got kicked out very fast by the manager.

My rider first gave me $20 before getting me a ride all the way to Chattanooga, TN.
During the ride, he paid for my hotel room so I could keep going with him in the morning, got me fountain drinks and lunch.
Also got me in touch with froiends of his for later on the trip.
Great guy!

Not a great spot, made to move along from the welcome centre by security, and only got picked up due to traffic. Really nice Ukrainian guy let me hop in and took me all the way to Nashville though

Very lucky to get a ride at this spot, but defo a good location. A trucker called Ali pulled up to check his tyres and let me in when I asked him. Very nice guy too. Decent shade, and was dropped off by a veteran hitcher there, very good spot

waited a while, got lucky with a ride all the way to Chattanooga but only because driver was trying to help me out. started Friday morning around 8am. if you are not able to get to a farther spot, it will work, but beware that traffic is mostly very local.
