Hard to find a proper spot. Lots of traffic, but short shoulder and sign forbidding pedestrians to go too much on-ramp.

Got finally a ride from Annie, a girl in her twenties with a free afternoon who offered me to go all the way to Portland.
Very nice ride , lots of chat, nice weather and good view on Mt Reinier all the way !

I think I just got lucky here because some kid just saw me walking onto the Interstate and asked if I needed a ride.

Going southbound, this is your spot. Good viewing distance, good Portland folks. Making a sign may be helpful. Look for the hippie vans!

This spot is great! I literally was picked up by the first car that came by. If you're going hiking for the day in the gorge, this is your starting spot (make a 'Multnomah Falls' sign). If you're going further (to Boise, SLC, or Spokane) definitely make a sign to get a direct ride, as hitching is frowned upon in Eastern Oregon and against the law in Idaho.

We got picked up before even starting to hitch-hike by a guy that saw us walking with a sign... Can't beat that..

Both truckstops, the TA and the Love's are pretty unfriendly. The TA allowed me to stay for the better part of a day but I was booted from Love's real fast. The onramp is good, though!

Got out surprisingly fast. Right under the arches of the I5 bridge

Tons of traffic and just enough room to pull off, but it's a little too intense. I had to wait a couple hours for a short ride.

I walked here from Fife. It was well worth the walk.

There is a ton of room for cars to pull off. A retaining wall partially blocks the view for some of the oncoming traffic, but they still have plenty of time and room to stop. I got picked up really quickly by a guy that ended up buying a bus ticket for me to portland, so I'd call it a win.

I waited 8 hrs with no ride. I can see how this would be a good spot, but the traffic was mostly teslas, BMWs, and Lexus'.

Maybe I just picked a bad day to hitch.

It was pretty late in the day but people were pretty reluctant to pick me up. One guy even pulled off onto the shoulder and tried to shoot rocks at me.

I ended up taking the city bus out to the truckstops out at Troutdale.

Portland seems like a bit of a mess. I'm glad I'm just passing through.

The ramp is ok. Lots of room to pull off.

Good spot to get back to I-5, not much use for anything long term I imagine. Lots of traffic and big shoulder.

Got a ride to the MAX station in Gresham pretty quick. Good vibes on 84 coming into Portland.
