Tried to get a ride first at the exit of Banks (intersection of 6 and 47)Perfect spot, with room to pull over, can be seen from far and everyone supposedly going at least to Tillamook.
After more than an hour, a cop stopped and forced me to walk along the highway, as it is supposedly legal in OR, instead of hitchhiking.
Got a ride a short after from a man in his eighties and his cute dog.
Coming back from a doctor's appointment, he offered me to stop at multiple times to take pictures in the State Forest and in Tillamook.

Took the public transportation to the Sunset Transit Center to get out of town, hitchhiked at the highway entrance there for 30' before heading towards the highway to get more luck/traffic. Light rain might have not helped. As I was about to try on the next on-ramp, Andy pulled over with his Tesla. He drove me out of this highway, to improve my chances of having a ride. Offered me some snacks. He told me in many years driving here, he has never seen a single hitch on this specific highway.

Not such a great spot, but I've never found hitching north outta Portland to be all that easy. Cars have room to stop and if traffic is backed up, you can ask around at stopped cars. We waited one and a half hours.―Anonymous

I think I just got lucky here because some kid just saw me walking onto the Interstate and asked if I needed a ride.―Anonymous

Going southbound, this is your spot. Good viewing distance, good Portland folks. Making a sign may be helpful. Look for the hippie vans!―Anonymous

Waited here about 20 minutes for a ride to Vancouver WA. Got offered coins twice!―Laurieking101

Easy to get to with public transit and a bit of walking. The traffic was crawling when I hitched here. During the 45 minutes I waited, I received four offers, all of which were heading to Vancouver. I scribbled a sign that said "Olympia" and within five minutes I had an awesome ride to Olympia.―Stephiewonder

Right by the onramp on to the I-5. Ok traffic going north. Probably none of it very far. I think we just got lucky. Hitching out of cities is hard.―Anonymous

Tons of traffic and just enough room to pull off, but it's a little too intense. I had to wait a couple hours for a short ride.―Anonymous

I walked here from Fife. It was well worth the walk. There is a ton of room for cars to pull off. A retaining wall partially blocks the view for some of the oncoming traffic, but they still have plenty of time and room to stop. I got picked up really quickly by a guy that ended up buying a bus ticket for me to portland, so I'd call it a win.

I waited 8 hrs with no ride. I can see how this would be a good spot, but the traffic was mostly teslas, BMWs, and Lexus'.Maybe I just picked a bad day to hitch.

Good spot to get back to I-5, not much use for anything long term I imagine. Lots of traffic and big shoulder.―CB
