Was taking a snack before heading to get the bus to reach Boulder.Start talking with my soon-to-be driver.
I looked too tired apparently, so she offered me a ride.
Had much fun with her, we hanged out in the following days and she became a friend!

Great place with enough traffic and good shoulder, but only had smiles and hand gestures from driver.First 30 minutes thumb only, then drew a sign saying 'Denver'.
End up calling a cab, & a car finally pulled over when it arrived...

Small town, with a good spot to hitchhike on the road and asking directly at the gas station.Got offered a ride by someone who stopped at the gas station and saw me first with my sign. He has a hitchhiker friend so it motivates him to stop and help.
Offered to hang out in Denver while I'm around.
There's a jail few miles up north, might reduce chance of rides from local or depending on your looks.

I say there is enough room for cars to pull off, there's a tree on the ramp so you won't get too hot. I had to wait three hours. Once you're on the rockies, it's easier to get rides.―Ars Libera

To the I-70 West. Take bus 16Ltd from anywhere on Colfax. You can catch traffic coming from Denver as well as Golden. Not much room for cars to pull over though. 50 feet east is stop light, also possible to ask cars there as they stop, best with sign. Waited 1 hour, ride to Eagle for two.―Anonymous

Good spot but bushes might make it harder. But otherwise people see you for about 20-30 seconds because of speed limit and ramp. And there is a nose spot to cars to stop there also.―Luthero

Just was sitting outside and read a book. And I have a sign on my backpack, so everyone can see where I'm going. So I think I was looks polite and that's why someone gave me a ride to Georgetown!―Luthero

The on ramp here was pretty dead, most of the traffic is going north and then either headed east or west along the 80. Eventually walked on the interstate and flew a sign there. More traffic will see you, but speed limit in this area was 70-75, so I wouldn't expect many people to stop here. The couple that picked me up said they drove past at first and then decided to come back around and pick me up. Got a straight ride to Denver though. Can't remember how long it took as I was walking along the interstate awhile before actually flying. Maybe 20-30-ish minutes actively flying?―Sara11us
