I have started 2 hitchhiking trips west from this same location. About 5 - 10 cars a minute, going generally slow, with enough room to pull over while other cars can still get by. Only took about 30-45 minutes each time. Public transportation from NYC: I got dropped off here, but there is also a NJ transit bus stop exactly 1 mile away (W. Main St. & Wall St., Rockaway) which you can bus to from Morristown, and you can get to Morristown from NYC via NY Penn Station. A bit of a stretch, but you can check out the route on google maps, says it only takes about 2 hours. Of course, there may be other good on-ramps to I-80... this is just the one I am familiar with.―Gogreatergood

Good place to hitch, many cars passing by. It's NJ so be aware of police but to be honest, when I was standing there, one police car passed me and they only waved to me to go away, but they didn't even stop. I was waiting for 1 hour.―Anonymous
