Hitchhiked here for a couple of hours towards the sunset. The spot is really good as its easy for cars to stop for the entrance to the highway towards North. We ve had 5 cars stop for us but most of them was going close, and only one going more than a 100 miles, yet to the direction we didnt want. We waited another night till we get a ride all the way to Portland next morning.

I wouldn't suggest trying to hitch North/East on I-80 after noon. Many many commuters, tons of people laugh at you, thinking you're destitute or joking, I don't know. It was a terrible feeling so much that I decided to quit thumbing after a couple hours and walk to another spot.

A good spot with a large pulling over space, next to BMW offices and their friendly employee.

Not busy at all. I just walked to the next entrance west. Much better! :)

Many people are driving locally, but still accept their rides, even if they're going 4 miles. Once you get farther from the Bay Area, you'll get longer rides.

Cars drive relativity fast, and bus stop is smaller then I expected, but luckily there is a line for turning right where cars can stop.
