stood on shoulder where right turn and the other lane (from traffic light) merge, which is technically on the highway, but you can go back and choose one if you wanna be legal. at 7am on Sunday there was little traffic (compared to what you'd expect on a highway) but still about 5 cars per minute or so, and the first one stopped after 2 hrs. it may still be your best option to get out of Savannah though. I recommend taking any ride out as things to get easier once you get out (sparse population but everyone is super nice)―disposessed

Hitchhiking to get to Jacksonville. Before this spot, a bunch of homeless people were at the highway exit and they usually leave a bad taste for hitch hikers. I got taken to the next exit (Richmond Hill) and waited there for over 4hrs. Someone was kind enough to give me a ride the next two exits down―sunhana
