Nice spot for going North or South on I-5, or West on Highway 12.This place is real finicky! Make sure you LOOK and ACT your BEST! There's tons of competition; including meth mouths asking for spare change (spangers) for "beer," old school dead heads vying for gas money and other hitchhikers going all directions.
At the Flying J, you can ask people directly for a lift. I think having a sign is a good idea, so you can walk to the trucker's area to fly it. Mind the Flying J managers. They are nice, but don't want too many leeches on their property, so avoid the area if meth mouths and spangers are hovering in the area. The police don't mind you if you look legit.
McDonald's nearby has free wifi. There's an AMPM/Arco down the road that takes food stamps/ebt. The Denny's is open 24 hours, so if you buy a coffee they won't mind you hanging around in there (but the wifi isn't free at Denny's!).
