It is not totally easy to hitchhike from Manhattan. I took a bus from Port Authority Bus Terminal to Allentown (20.5 USD)
Look Allentown to find good place to go the I78 South.

(It was said that NEW JERSEY has a stupid law that forbids HH so the Bus-ride is great to skip this state. allentown is second stop in Pennsylvania)

Most traffic here seems quite local. After about 90 minutes I moved to the end of Jerome Ave to hitch onto the Deegan, which worked better.

I wanted to rich Canada and it seemed to be quite good place to go out of the town. I just had to take the subway 1 until the end and walk 5 minutes. I waited there on hour.

Good place to hitch. heavy traffic. Easy to access. most of the cars will go to west. You can ride on I-80 from this place.

You should be careful to police.
