Someone dropped us here. This is an unofficial bus stop so every few minutes busses stop to Dong Dang border town. There’s also a Bánh mì stand. We didn’t persist long & paid 200k each for a bus. They asked 300k at first.―DMT

Super good spot. I think it’s technically more legal as it’s not on the highway yet. The cars have to go round a sharp corner to get onto the road so you can catch them when they’re slow. Have a sign for ninh binh and a good smile―Kjmurray1230

It's quite easy, someone will pull over and invite you, but make sure you don't have money, maybe they will give you a free lift. I had a long lift even I didn't thumb up with 15mins―Anonymous

That spot is perfect to go to Lao Cai but most people going not so far so you can be ready move "step by step" by that way. Even you not lucky at all you can always hike a bus and pay 10$ right to Chinese border !August 2015

There is some space under the bridge where people sell some food and beverages. Not a perfect spot but good towards north like Hanoi―Anonymous
