C'est une route rapide (difficile pour lire un pancarte mais les gens s'arrête). Les voitures peuvent s'arrêter sans danger vers la route A35 et A4, demander la prochaine station sur la route. Aiming for Paris, got there at 10 for Strasbourg by train to Saverne + foot, almost no traffic until 11. Many workers who won't take anyone in their service car. Also lots of people going not very far or to Metz / Nancy. Some truck drivers but no luck with them.Got a ride at 12 to Paris suburbs by a guy who picked a car in Germany. He wasn't supposed to stop there so I was lucky.
Overall I don't know if it's a good spot or if I was lucky this time but it worked !

Trying to get to Aire de Vémars, found a car driving to Cologne on a early Saturday morning.Accessible from metro station Montreuil Hôpital, walk to Rue de la Chasse the closest you can get to the gas station entrance. There's a pretty low wall you can climb over and maybe even a pathway, but I didn't see it in the dark. Be extra careful when walking the last 100 meters over the gas station entrance.

I rejected maybe 8 rides because I thought I could get a farther one, and I did! All the way to the border of Spain! Most people are going to Orléans, but occasionally you meet someone going farther. I speak no French but managed to make do, good spot to hitchhike out west or south!―Calebblor

Waited 40 minutes for a ride to Paris, holding a sign PARIS -LUX as I was going to Luxembourg. Just before the entrance on the highway where the internal roads meet, cars stop before entering the exit lane and can see you and communicate―Phidias81

Good place for getting out of Lille, cars have room to stop and they usually go slow thanks to the traffic lights. We found somebody to take us to Paris straight away, however we were very lucky, they said people of Lille aren’t really used to hitchhikers (? I dont know if thats true).―Kuthvi

At the entrance of the toll, with a sign saying Paris / Le Mans, and waited less than 3 minutes for a ride.But it was a few days before the end of summer break, so there was some traffic, probably helped!

stood on the grassy shady wooded area on the side just after the toll booths. got a ride from the second car that passed all the way to paris. may have been luck, but most traffic is slow and there is a good place to stop, and this spot gets all traffic going on the A20 from toulouse. i recommend a big sign as it is wide toll booth and you may miss cars on the far side.―Anonymous

Think I got lucky... Pas Mal pour aller Sur Paris apres 15h, forcément Les voitures vont Sur la A1 et il y en a bcp. Feu rouge très utile pour que tout le traffic s'arrete. Coup de chance aussi je pense. A Mon avis un signe est plutot essentiel pour ce spot―callsd
