We waited a while at the exit, certainly seems busy at the macdos and the service station however in terms of cars flowing to the exit it wasn't as hectic as previous commenters. However we found a safe spot for cars to safely pull over and got a ride home direct to Lyon. (Keep in mind this end of school holidays in October, so a lot of family cars. Nonetheless it is also a good spot for single hitchers, lots of trucks passing by so probably could go very far distances.―bobby

Got picked up but a lovely women going to Arles, stopped off a quite a decent Aire. I think walking (with a sign to show while people are in their car) and talking to people who are in their cars is quite effective here, some declined us with hand gestures and others offered to take us in the direction there.―Bobby

Despite the time and the stars, i think this a solid spot to get moving however best moving to the next station service or another one further away, maybe without signWe began with a sign however was having no luck after an hour : (2 white males)

The person from the last ride left us there. There is a Shopping centre to get food and a gas station. We asks at the station and after round about 20 minutes a women took us to villefranche. Actually we wanted to go to Dijon but didn't make it that day. Maybe the people who stop at the gas station are mostly from villages nearby but not sure.―Anonymous

We got to the gas station because a guy took us from a wrong spot where we started.At the gas station we just asked the people at the gas station for 30 min until a very nice person took us to lyon.

I stood here with a sign "Lyon" on a Sunday evening. Only two rows of cars can see you there but I found the location convenient for cars to stop afterwards. And there was enough traffic on the Sunday evening. It might be better standing somewhere else during low traffic times.―particulefine

I really love this spot, hitchhiked here several times already and it never disappointed me. I wish we had the same kind of spots on the West side of Lyon to go far West ! Well, this time I had a big sign "Grenoble" and it worked well. I advise you to write as big as you can (big cardboards are your friends) so that the cars can read it from far away. Perfect spot going out from Lyon to the South. I have the chance to go to the toilet take a coffee and I stay just in the gasoline area in the entrance to the parking area with my sign going to Marseille. There a Big car pick me up. the gay was super nice, was a slow ride but I could arrive to my next spot just 30 minutes from Marseille in the highway. I think was the perfect spot to find people going to the south.―Caminante

Good spot but the amount of space to stop depends on how many cars are parked. There were multiple free spots when I arrived. En passant par la zone industrielle, il y a un petit passage au nord de la station à travers un grillage pour accéder à l'aire d autoroute. C'est le trajet le plus pratique mais un peu plus long. On a bien galerer malgré un grand nombre de voitures, on était 2 et c'était un week-end de vacances. Beaucoup de voitures étaient pleines d'affaires. It is an average spot I would say. I waited 45mn here which is a quite long time for a solo woman. After a while, a man stopped and took me to a petrol station on the motorway. He confirmed that most cars are going to local places here. I had a big Clermont-Ferrand sign. Good luck !―particulefine
