Tried taking the bus up to a restaurant with the intention of eating and then catching the next bus an hour later, but when the restaurant turned out to be closed I decided to hitchhike the rest of the way up rather than wait an hour for the bus. Really cold and completely dark outside, took longer than I would have liked to get a ride. No cell service either. Fair number of cars going past so maybe I just got unlucky (and it was night), but still not a lot of fun.

A lot of local traffic but also people going to Germany - got a ride to the Ellwanger Berge station after an hour

If you stand on the roundabout with a sign to Innsbruck, the cars can take the exit onto the parking lot.

Good spots for cars to go east to bludinz or Innsbruck.

Originally we had a sign for Innsbruck but most of the traffic at the mall is local. After changing it to feldkirch we got a ride pretty quickly.

It was a moderately busy saturday late morning and I had high hopes getting in direction of A7 Germany relatively quickly, but was shocked that nobody stopped. Probably made the mistake of not having a sign. In the end I was so desperate to get to the german border that I took a nice family going to Schaffausen.

around 6/7pm in july there was too much traffic going too fast to stop here, especially since the road is lined by concrete barriers so aside from a few meters after the rpundabout theres no place to pull in, same at the roundabout after this one. might be possible to get lifts later in the day or early in the morning, people generally seemed really happy to see us so could see someone getting picked up.

good amount of cars going over the pass west, not that much space to pull over but cars going slow through roundabout, good visibility, maybe commuter traffic if you time it right? very touristy town in the winter so can see it being a very busy place then

Quit some people heading up to Malbun to escape the heat in the valley.

Only a short ride to Vaduz. Still it was faster than walking.

Perfect for going to western Austria - we found a ride to our goal (Vorarlberg) almost immediately. In the first 2 minutes of waiting, we spotted three Vorarlberg plates and in the end a swiss guy who turned up minutes later took us straight to our home :)

Not a lot of cars going on at around 7 am - eventually found a ride towards Innsbruck

Literally the 3rd car coming across the border took me to Switzerland.

Suuuper dead gas station at least towards west. To Innsbruck it shouldn't be an issue but I don't recommend it for Feldkirch. Thr bakery next door is a bit more busy but still maybe 10 cars at once, 9 of which are heading to Innsbruck. I got very very lucky to get out of here quickly.

Got a ride to the Austrian-German border, most of the cars were heading towards Switzerland though.

It was already dark, but the hostel nearby was fully booked and I luckily got a couchsurfing host in Hohenems, so I hoped to get a ride from Feldkirch to there and luckily a guy stopped and took me to my host’s house.
