Got lift to Brno, by a Polish couple, returning from Germany.(Two offers for Brno/Mikulovice in the meantime.)
No shade, there is small exit as utility road from the spot, not marked on map, great for drivers to stop there.
At the time not much traffic really, and only ~1/10 going for the highway exit.
I was wondering, why drivers seems so confused all the time.
And it's because of complexity of this exit and how the navigation is displaying it.
Many drivers taking wrong exit - instead for highway, they leave for Kollnbrunn.
There is another exit for highway so they don't need to return, it's forgiving, just adds a few more minutes to the route.
Not for you, loosing the valuable traffic.
So I would suggest, depending on traffic, try before roundabout on the exit road from the gas/parking lot, some 100m from this spot I guess, catching rather all traffic.
(Two drivers stopping with an offer confirmed me their confusion, one even circled the spot 2 times before exited right.)
Got there late at night walking from Wolkersdorf train station, (ticket cost is ~7€ from Praternsten).
Headlamp come handy.
Took me ~2hrs, with heavy backpack, from Prater to the spot.
It's thru woods but they have maintained network of patch roads for fencing and logging the wood out.
Go out of village, at the end before motocross/Rochuskapelle in the twist, there is pawed utility road. Walk it to the end and go straight to the forest, making it by the first triangle shaped path, ending nearby the highway again.
On OSM maps there is line alongside that road - that is the fence, so you can't go deeper to forest (it's to the left side after hitting the fence).
From there walk by the fence up to cell tower mast (there is no road visible on map, but as they build the fence, they have road for it, side by side), from here is a marked road again on map.
You'll pass by an overpass for wild animals above the highway.
A lots of wild boar (dozens), fortunately all I've met were on the other side of fence.
Yet entire area ground having marks from their activity so count on that they are with you all the time.
The gas station have cut thru the fence at the beginning, or you can walk up to second roundabout and there is open gate for cars.
Arrived late at night, so slept in forest near the first roundabout, area is freshly logged out so no bushes but few well placed trees for a hammock.

This place sucks, we got a ride to brno after a full day and 2 nights sleep. First we ( 2 people) tried getting to prague or germany but no one from crech republic wanted to talk much or did not stop. Later we gave up on that and just tried to get anywhere but there was only people who could take us to vienna. There was a cool local bus driver that gave me some snacks and a drink. It is BIZAR how long this took felt like a fever dream. There is a nice camping spot at the water tank and easy to walk underneath the toilet gate at the macdonalds, fuck that genocidal company anyway. Wish you the best of luck this direction is kinda rough.―Anonymous

WHAT A LUCK! We got to the parking spot through a hole in a fence (no other way around), got hastled by police and then got a sandwich at the Viva. Its open till midnight and we headed out of there at 11 pm. Thought we were going to sleep somewhere around till morning, fortunately, my friend thumbed a car for fun right when we got out of the gas station and they took us right to our city! Great spot for the ride out of Vienna, its walkable distance to get there, if youre adventurous :)―Torysek

only a few PL/H/CZ cars passed and everyone ignored me. this roundabout is not a truly convenient place for drivers to stop, I would personally stay at the separate lane a bit earlier.―AleksP

A good place if you want to go towards Italy, France and Germany or the Czech Republic. We were heading towards Budapest and we had some difficulties to find someone who was driving in that direction. But a lot can depend on what time you hitchhiking. On the plus side, a lot of trucks and quite a lot of passenger car traffic at the gas station. A good place to stop/accommodate. There is a shower, laundry, hostel.―Moonhans

One of the best places to hitchhike near Katowice. We planned to go in the direction of Ostrava in the further Budapest and we managed to catch the driver to Vienna. Overall, a great place to catch a foot in the direction of Wroclaw, Berlin, Vienna. It is worth going to the parking lot and asking people where they are going - a lot of individual drivers and trucks.―Moonhans

A great spot for stopping a ride to Brno/Prague. Even though we started late in the evening (like two hours till sunset), we knew getting a ride towards Czechia will be quite easy since there are so many cars with czech/german/polish plates here, however most of the cars were austrian plates going back southbound. Most to the drivers were kind, responding (boosted our hopes and morale). In the end managed to secure a lift 70km beyond Brno.―slavomirScholz

Hitchwiki recommeds this spot for catching a ride towards the A5 Autobahn in order to get further north to Czechia. Do not make the same mistake as us (me and my friend), and try to get a ride from here on SUNDAY!!! Kaufhaus is closed on sunday, very little traffic, the locals who drive here do not like hitchhikes and will treat you like UFO (mostly ingoring you tho), however, miraculously we managed to stop two young fellas in a mercedes after like an hour of suffering and zero hope.―slavomirScholz

Got a lift to Wolkersdorf with a sign "Brno" however during that hour, only about 10 Czech cars passed me. Also I didn't get too many interactions with the drivers.. but it's a nice spot to get from Vienna since the bus to the shopping mall is free - also this place is recommended by Hitchwiki👍🏼―jkoupy
