ONLY GOOD FOR NORTHERN TRAFFIC. Stood for an hour with a sign for Wien, but almost every driver signaled that they were headed north.

Fantastic location with almost all traffic heading south. Slow moving after the roundabout and plenty of space to stop.

We met a truck driver going to Vienna here

The gas station also serves as a highway exit into the local industrial district and these cars generate most of the traffic, there aren't many cars actually going to Bratislava. That being said, this is most likely still the best place to get out of Vienna eastward.

It's a good place to stop at the bus stop. A lot of cars with Austrian license plates drive by, but they're going pretty fast. I also tried waiting at the gas station for half an hour, but relatively few Austrians stop there.

A lot of traffic with Austria people and trucks, I stood at the exit at the roundabout, cars going slowly and even trucks can stop behind you

Honestly shocked that others say that this spot is shit for Budapest and good for Vienna — I had exactly the opposite experience hitchhiking to Austria! Three hours waiting with a sign for ‘Graz’ (I was on my way to Zagreb), and the only offer in that direction that I got was to a town just over the border. Yet three people stopped to ask if going to Budapest would help, and two more people stopped to apologize that they were going to Budapest!

I had banked on people going to Vienna making the connection that Vienna is on the way to Graz, but as hour three closed I made a sign for Vienna, and it was STILL another hour. There is no shade at the on-ramp and it gets hot. The traffic is a steady trickle but honestly not that much. I would try another spot next time, no question.

Lots of space in the surrounding area to camp unseen, though, if this spot does serve you. I walked here from the end of the tram line at night to cross the highway with less traffic and start early (not that the early start helped!), and was at least well rested for the frustration.

Friday 10am dead as hell wanted to go to graz and avoid Vienna altogether , but after an our of few cars I gladly accepted a ride to Vienna city center

This place broke me, almost everything local traffic. I got lucky after two hours a desperately wawed to Czech car, and it stopped, but it was a pain in the ass. Find a different spot. Also Sundays in Austria suck.

just go along the road and ask around where most of the people are.
i decided to do something stupid and went to Vienna by foot, which took me 14 hours, but at this place you get a ride just by existing. cross the border.

only a few PL/H/CZ cars passed and everyone ignored me. this roundabout is not a truly convenient place for drivers to stop, I would personally stay at the separate lane a bit earlier.

in theory this is the best you got in order to escape the north of Vienna (hell)
workday morning was very tough, but I persevered and reached Prague in 6 hours even with horrible luck.
please ask to take you to gas stations, direct rides to brno or prague are very unlikely.

go further. you'll get more traffic from turning lanes. morning on a weekday is tough.

just go down the road for 5 more minutes. there's more space to stop, more traffic and more visibiluty. at this point most cars are still grumpy austrian grannies who are driving to the shopping mall.

Difficult to get a ride to Budapest. Probably best to look for Slovak plates and get a ride to “ASFINAG Raststation Göttlesbrunn”. There you’ll see more Hungarian plates.
