Even though I found a ride quickly, I wouldn't recommend this spot. Maybe it was the timing but it was pretty empty with only locals there. Someone took me to the next bigger rest stop though, which I was very grateful for since the parking didn't feel super safe especially as it was getting dark.―thebeekeeper

you have to walk a little next to the road if coming from the roundabout.then you will get to a piece that you have plenty room for cars to stop. here you can go direction luik or E40

Small restaurant and parking on the E42. Not too busy, but there was still a car coming through around every five minutes. Quite easy to get a ride onwards towards Liege and Aachen, bit harder to find someone going to Maastricht/NL―Anonymous
