hard to reach spot by a traffic light, you can try and ask people who stop.

good, safe, visible spot by the bus stop, cars aren't very fast there. deinitely use a sign if you'd like to go past antwerpen, otherwise thumb should be just fine :)

Picked up by a very nice young couple who took me as far as Brecht. They went out of their way to help me.

got stuck there mid trip as the night fell, the station employee was really nice, let us sleep in our bags inside and gave us tea, we found a ride eventually in the middle of the night, the rode through belgium without stopping and left us just after the Netherlands border

Good when heading to Antwerp. When your destination is after Antwerp get off at patrol station at the border.

Sit on the south side of the building to catch the longway-drivers. We waited for about 30 minutes in the pleasant sunlight (and there are free bathrooms!) until a very pleasant driver approached us and took us all the way to Gent.

Direction North
Not so much cars passing by here. At least, try not to be dropped here just before the night!

This was a lucky shot I guess, but we started our hitchhiking trip to Brittyany from here on succesfully.

There is a bus stop here where you can try to hitchhike to Antwerpen. You can find the bus stop in front of a store which is called 'Fun'.

hithchiked directly to paris from here (a few times). Many dutch lease cars fill up their gas here because they are not allowed to get gas for free outside holland.

Saw an English car outside the McDonald's. Waited for them to return to car and they took me to Dunkerque for the ferry.

For the first time ever, an employee asked me (friendly) to ask a ride on the parking behind the gas station, because people would get uncomfortable. Well, I get uncomfortable of these shitty rules and people who believe all hitchhikers are murderers and rapists. The first car I asked drove me to Antwerp.
