Super spot, we were two people with our backpacks and we waited for a very short time!

Super nice spot! There were two of us and we got a lift to the Plovdiv suburban almost immediately

I waited close to the bus station and a local woman quickly took me a bit up the road to the highway entrance.

Got dropped here in the early morning and very quickly got taken by a truck driver to Plovdiv. Seems to be a good spot.

Perfect place for HH to Sofia. It's near to semaphore and Gas station. There is a old railway (don't work right now) and cars drive slow because of this.

We were very lucky to the border, but after the border traffic was very slow. Most people seem to be going to Edirne from the border. Also, beware of people asking for (a lot of) money, thinking you actually need a taxi.

When going to Turkey, don't bother using a sign here. There won't be any direct traffic because that will take the (practically unhitchable) highway, so just put out your thumb, get a ride to the next (sizable) town (Haskovo in this case) and repeat from there until you get to the border.

"Mebelna kushta" is on the previous intersection, where it is better to hitchhike.

From downtown Plovdiv you can get on bus 66 (make sure you take it eastwards) and get off at Tsarigradsko Shose, before the bus turns into the Trakia district: http://www.masov-gt.com/googleMaps.php?table=66_1D1M0p&Den=1&VidTrans=1&description=%D0%90%D0%B2%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%B1%D1%83%D1%81%D0%BD%D0%B0%20%D0%BB%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%8F%20%E2%84%96%2066%20(%D0%BA%D0%B2.%20%D0%9F%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%81%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%B2%20-%20%D0%B6.%D0%BA.%20%D0%A2%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BA%D0%B8%D1%8F%20%D0%9012)
Then you can walk over the bridge and find a good spot to hitch (at the bistro).

There is a bus station on the right side of the street. You can hitchhike from there if you want to go outside the city (and reach the highway)

The best place in our opinion! Were hitchhiking in a couple (a guy and a girl), with a sign written in Bulgarian [София моля те :) - Sofia, please :) ] and literally stopped a car in 1 minute. Stand on the little corner after the semaphore so that not only cars that go straight to highway could see you, but also the ones turning to the left.
