Although cars come here with quite a bit of speed, there is a lot of space to safely pull over. This spot is probably better when there is little traffic. Got a direct ride to Montreal in 20 minutes.―Anonymous

I went there going to Montreal looking at the first comment, i guess i got really unlucky because i took me 2 hours to get my first ride ... and it was really short. Took me 6 hours to get to Montreal. Unfortunately walking on the 417 in Ontario is forbidden, so no choice but waiting on the ramp !―Pilou3019

to hitchhike to Toronto this is the best way from Ottawa. Yes Ottawa/Toronto drivers are mostly dicks but if you look like a student and clean you should be able to hitch a ride in under 30 minutes.―Jackfang

no good turnoffs from onramp... Would not recommend... I down this highway for about 3 hours, none of the onramps are safe to pull off, none of them after baseline have much traffic, and the road is moving too fast and too busy (even on weekdays) to use... Im considering trying to 7 or heading towards montreal and then down to kingston.. Ottawa/tornto drivers suck for hh..―Anonymous
