There is a Petro-Canada Gas Station at the exit of Dorval Terminal where many cars stops before leaving Montreal

There are not that many places where to hitch from in Montreal, but heading towards Ottawa (40W) this might prove a good try. I got a ride in a truck going to Pointe Claire. Very good when there is a lot of traffic as people can see you in the distance. They were very surprised to see a hitcher there. It is a bus stop for bus 100, which you can board at Crémazie metro station.

Prendre le métro jusqu'à Sherbrooke/Longueil, puis marcher (5 min) jusque là. Bon spot pour Québec/Maritimes.

Near longueil metro station, just before a ramp to highway, cars can easily stop. Cars are coming from Longueil, and from boulevard La Fayette.

The dot is misplaced, sorry for my mistake. It should be on the bridge of the Boulevard Taschereau. Best place to go toward Qc city. Good visibility and place to stop. A lot of cars. Did it dozens of time, average waiting time around 15 min to get a lift far enough to get home. I suggest refusing lift from someone who offers to get you to the A-20 only, as it is so easy to find a lift for further.

Sorti mon pouce sur la bretelle d'autoroute de Chateaugay à Salaberry. Picked up in 20 minutes or so. Ended up in St Thimothy , on the way to Salaberry

Spot is a bit creepy, cars go quite fast and most are going to Toronto and not to Ottawa.
There is a gas station nearby but only for trucks, and it is not very busy. We were taken by a truck at the station when he stopped for a break.
