another option is to first hitch a ride to the big ABC station and then to Tampere. If you use signs, having one that says "ABC:lle" or "to ABC" is handy in Finland anyways

Good spot to get a ride to Helsinki as there is high traffic, but not a lot of space for car to stop. However we didn't wait too long and one car wanted to stop but continues to drive and then came back for us in 10 minutes. So it's better to stay closer to the crossroad as cars have much more time to see you and then stop the car where there is still a space.
