Direction Chalon Sur SaoneNot really good place as there is so little traffic. However, I was waiting there a tuesday at 1pm (it is really countryside)
By chance, the 6th car in one hour were dutch who took me to Chalon

This is a good spot to go north, south or even west with the national road. Many people arrive with the road N80 and go on the highway.―ChocoPouce

We were 2 people going to Paris. Waited 20 min. with a sign "A6 DIR. PARIS) on the middle island until we got a ride to a nearby gas station.Maybe because of the toll system, if you are going south, it could be better to try Chalon-Sud.

We were two girls with a sign "Beaune". We wanted to be dropped off in the "Aire Bourgogne Merceuil" before Beaune, a big gas station were it is easy to get a car to go to Paris. We stood 30 meters from the toll. We got a car within 15 minutes.―Eleo05

Stood before the booths on a Wednesday afternoon. Used a sign for Lyon, but most people that responded to me were going the other direction. I stood in the middle island, but there's room to pull over on both sides. Staff didn't seem to care I was there. Got a direct ride with a truck in 40 mins.―Anonymous

If you're going to the south your luck will vary. Tried July 2020-July 2021-August 2022, respectively: waited 5 hours and gave up - waited 40 minutes and met another hitchhiker - waited 25 minutes―Félix

Not that much traffic but we found a ride within less than an hour and it's easy for the cars to stop at the péage or at the parking lot. There is also a public toilet with running water. Might be good for catching a ride to Lyon in the evening.―Hinterlandbande
