I waited about 5 minutes at the exit of the station, with a sign saying "A10", and got a lift to Chatellereault (near Poitiers). A few cars even stopped before that but were not able to help me. Many people heading to the south, and a lot of truckers are resting. Go ahead and ask them, many of them go to Spain ! 👍

I waited there about 2 hours on a wednesday afternoon, but I think that it is pretty decent for Paris. Initially I had a sign with A10 / Bordeaux / Aire de Limours written on it, but then I switched to keep only A10 and much more cars stopped, until I was taken to the Limours gas station. Nice shady little wating spot, with space for cars to stop. Good luck 😉

Good spot to go Rennes with the A11 or Bordeaux with the A10. From Paris you have to take the train to Dourdan then a bus to Saint-Arnoult en Yvelines and walk like 20 minutes.

Good spot, people working at the toll are very nice and helpful, better be at the entrance of the toll than at the toll's parking

First petrol station on the A10, to Spain. Ask for a close distance first.

The instructions on the Paris wiki are very good, although would recommend walking here from Briis sous forges. Had to climb a fence to get in but worth the effort. 3 hitchers picked up in 45 minutes and plenty of traffic passes through here.

To get there (10.2014), from the station Massy RER/TGV, we caught a bus to Briis-sous-Forges (1,75 euro) and from there walked to this gas station. We managed to find a part with a hole in the fence (more to the southern part of the station).

EXCELLENT PLACE! There is a path for walking in the gas station (the road has a sign telling it's only for working people, but you can walk on it for 700m then you cross the parking and walk into the place!). Best spot in my opinion : just before the road from the gas station goes on the highway, there is a place where cars can pull off. I always wait here with a sign with usually 2 names (ORLEANS/CLERMONT, BRETAGNE, TOURS/BORDEAUX). Works perfectly!

Direction Paris-Nantes, It's work very well, a lot of cars paying the toll, but not very pleasant (noisy, under cameras ...).

THE SPOT TO the west of France, the South, Brittany(Breizh), Occitania, the Basque Country, Massif Central, Spain...

hitchhiked plenty of times here. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes. I only take a car that make me advance for at least 2-3hours minimum. Pretty sure that you can wait for THE car whatever you're going to Bordeaux, Clermont, Roazhon(Rennes). Never took THE car to Brest, but I'm pretty sure it can be done.

Beware --> good to know : I once was expelled by the "douane" (special police force) from this toll while coming from brittany and searching for a car going to the center of Paris. It only happened once, in the direction I don't oftenly hitch (maybe 4 or 5 times on this side). On the other side, cops passed by my side ith their car but never said anything...

If you're trying to go to the East (Germany/Romania/England,...), it's maybe the spot to stand by if you want to bypasses Paris while arriving from the South/West. Once I was stuck for about 3h near Paris (on the N104) while trying to reach the East...

Waited 10 minutes at 11pm for a hitch to Renness.

It's at the exit of the first gas station of the A10. All the cars will go to the péage but from there it's sometimes difficult to get away... Look for drivers that take the right way (A10 or A11).
I waited like 20 mins just to go to the péage and there another 20 minutes...
