Good spot to go Rennes with the A11 or Bordeaux with the A10. From Paris you have to take the train to Dourdan then a bus to Saint-Arnoult en Yvelines and walk like 20 minutes.―Anonymous

Good spot, people working at the toll are very nice and helpful, better be at the entrance of the toll than at the toll's parking―aalam

DIRECTION BORDEAUX NANTES SPAIN BY A10 OR BRITAIN BY A11 - TOLL OF ST ARNOULT en YVELINESThis is the bigger toll of europe, there's a lot of car's stop and there's no problem with the toll director
Waiting : 2-20 min

Direction Paris-Nantes, It's work very well, a lot of cars paying the toll, but not very pleasant (noisy, under cameras ...).―Yeye

THE SPOT TO the west of France, the South, Brittany(Breizh), Occitania, the Basque Country, Massif Central, Spain...hitchhiked plenty of times here. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes. I only take a car that make me advance for at least 2-3hours minimum. Pretty sure that you can wait for THE car whatever you're going to Bordeaux, Clermont, Roazhon(Rennes). Never took THE car to Brest, but I'm pretty sure it can be done.
Beware --> good to know : I once was expelled by the "douane" (special police force) from this toll while coming from brittany and searching for a car going to the center of Paris. It only happened once, in the direction I don't oftenly hitch (maybe 4 or 5 times on this side). On the other side, cops passed by my side ith their car but never said anything...
If you're trying to go to the East (Germany/Romania/England,...), it's maybe the spot to stand by if you want to bypasses Paris while arriving from the South/West. Once I was stuck for about 3h near Paris (on the N104) while trying to reach the East...

One of my worst experience, one car each 10 minutes... I get back to Rambouillet and took the N10 to reach Chartres―Anonymous

Good spot to follow the D988 until the A10 highway, but people often sometimes turn right or left before to reach it so it has do be done in several times.―Anonymous

Parking before the péage of Saint-Arnould... I prefer not to hitchhike directly because it's kind of dangerous. Better wait some minutes more and be relaxed ;)―Anonymous

We were dropped at the service door. The driver told us that we could ring at the door, say that we were hitch-hiking and they would open the door.We tried and were told it was forbidden to hitchhike on the highway.
So we walked a little past the toll to get to the end of the fence and walked back on the other side until we reached the toilet spot. There a truck driver saw us and offered a ride back to Rennes. So nice!

2 male hikers with Sainte-Mesme sign. Trying to get to the toll in Saint-Arnoult.Got dropped there. Not a lot of traffic going to Sainte-Mesme (ca 3 cars/minute at 3pm)
Might be better to try reaching the toll following the A10 road signs from Dourdan.
