Very easy to get a lift to lausanne, after you are on the highway get off on La Cote rest stop if you need to go far into switzerland―Frederik

Very few cars stopping for a rest stop here and continuing on east it seems, mostly locals, but due to highway construction i think cars heading east will choose the road leading east instead of going back on the highway. Got picked up anyway by a crew of italian skiers, great times.―Frederik

I just landed in Geneva Airport and tried to get BlaBlaBus to Grenoble, but it got canceled :/So I just found this spot on Google maps and decided to give it a try. There's enough space for cars to pull over, but not for trucks. And the road turns directly to the highway.
A lot of French drivers, who work in Geneva and live in France go this way. Took some time but got a great company on the way and it was easier once in France.

Good spot, have used it many times.wait after gas station, you can ask people but sign works fine. To get there take local train to chambésy then walk 5 minutes. Best luck during morning and evening rush hour. Have never waited longer than 1h

Towards Lausanne - We barely waited 15-20 minutes before finding a ride. Stop light and radar make cars slow! Lots of room to pull over :)―Anonymous

a good place to reach lausanne, montreux and other cities on the lake's eastern 'riviera' coast. a traffic light with long red phases slows traffic down here. there are plenty-plenty of cars driving in the direction of the autoroute (highway, autobahn) A1/E62. on my personal rating from 1 to 10 (1 = poor, 10 = superb) i want to give this spot a "6 to 7", safe for drivers to stop, close to the inner city, many cars driving by.―Anonymous

There is a bus stop here, on a busy on-ramp going south. But it's too public... I was clean and presentable, but no-one seemed to want to be seen to be stopping for me.http://hitchwiki.org/en/Geneva

the gas station is not a real gas station...after 30 minutes of waiting i walked for appx 20-30 minutes along rua de lausanne to a big gas station and found a ride immediately after 5 minutes of talking to people.―Wukk

Quite good place, you can reach it easily from the city center and cars can stop at the bus stop. I got a ride to Biel in 20-25 mins with a sign "A1"―Anonymous

BEST SPOT TO LEAVE GENEVA!Easy to reach just use google map and it will show you which bus will bring you to this spot.
just go a bit further in the intersection where there is light with people coming under the bridge, and there use a big panel France and try to use eye contact and laugh with drivers.
My experience, (girl and boy) were with a panel France and after 20min a guy stopped for us was going to Chamonix, he drop us in the borders which is much more easy because cars are going really slow. so don't waste your money with bus to go to the border just walk to this place and you will catch a car, there is more french cars than Swiss cars. Good luck

If you decide to take this spot and you don't find a ride in a reasonable amount of time take the D bus from the bus station all the way to the station called Perly. From there you can try hitchhiking to get to the enterance of the highway on your journey towards Lyon or Grenoble.―Yooks

At first I was shocked with this spot: ok, the traffic IS busy and the red light is long (40 sec) but there is no room for the cars to pull over. You will find yourself standing on a narrow sidewalk. There is some room if the driver wants to ride into the gate of this WTO you can see on the map but it's not a standard open parking or so.However, suprisingly, we got a ride towards Lausanne in 10 minutes! So green is still a good colour to mark this place.
