Fastest ride ever. Wanted to go to Geneva, so I asked a car with F number plate. He took me.

I found a ride to Thônex, right before Genève, but waited for 40min - I think most of the people passing don't drive as far as Genève or go south to Annecy.

You can wait under the trees in the shadows and there's a good place to stop on the right. The cars also drive slowly because of the traffic from the people turning left to the gas station.

Great spot, a lot of traffic. I stayed at the exit from the gas station with a sign (Geneva) and my friend was asking people in front of the restaurant. We hitched a nice army lady, she took us to the exact place we wanted to visit near Geneva.

be fast and discreet to get to the spot at the money exchange building.

I wasn't (waving at the cars on my way there), and a Swiss police dude came to say it was forbidden to hitchhike there ('cause supposedly its a highway), and that I had no choice but to walk away to the nearest town (where I d be screwd, since I wanted to stick to the highway on my way to Portugal).

luckily, I asked the truck drivers waiting at the douane park, and one took me.

even if people don't go further than Annecy, take a ride to the nearby rest station Aire des Pont-de-la-caille (there is no gas station until Annecy), where it should be easy to find people going further.

Good spot, even marked by an official autostop sign. I tried hitchhiking from further in the city center but probably best just to walk all the way up here bcs didnt have any luck there. Also tried the parallel road to the east, which is more busy but cars are going too fast to stop

This is the best spot towards chamonix, but very little traffic going out of the city in the morning on weekdays, people mostly drive towards chamonix in weekends. I went to the speedbump at one point but after some time the border control came over and asked me to move further away so i recommend just staying at the round "no pedestrians" sign.

Having hitchhiked a lot out of geneva, it is so much better to just go straight to the bardonnex douane than trying from here. Either just take transit, or like me rent a donkey bike, which can be returned in the small towns close to the douane. To get into the douane there is just a small gate to the west, out of sight, that can be jumped easily

Decent spot, space to pull over, but cars are going fast even though it is a turn. Best option if you come from courmayeur like we did. We walked up here to join the big road because the traffic out of the town was non-existant, but it was also on a sunday. It isnt possible to walk all the way up to the tunnel from here, I wouldnt risk it.

40 minutes of walking on the road, quite dangerous, good amount of cars but noone stopping even if there's only one way
But the guy that took us was really kind

Doesn't feel that safe but a shitton of cars and decent space to pull over. Don't forget a sign.

Okay spot, at the time of this review there is construction work going on when approaching the highway so just walk down there and stand on what was previously the bus-lane and you will catch all traffic going out the tunnel as well. Fyi there are signs that say walking there is illigal so be careful

Very easy to get a lift to lausanne, after you are on the highway get off on La Cote rest stop if you need to go far into switzerland

Very few cars stopping for a rest stop here and continuing on east it seems, mostly locals, but due to highway construction i think cars heading east will choose the road leading east instead of going back on the highway. Got picked up anyway by a crew of italian skiers, great times.

Entrance of the highway. Illegal spot but enough space for car to stop. Not that much traffic. Very efficient.
