Nice spot to go to Montbéliard, cars see you from far away, they are slow because of a traffic light and they can easily stop because there are parking lots, recommend

Bad spot BUT was so lucky. The lady dropped us here then immediately a car stopped in front of us to ask if we had a problem. Thierry was a Christian that genuinely wanted to help so he brought us on the next gas station just for us. He honestly saved the day.

A driver took us here from belfort. Really uncomfortable spot for us and not much place for the cars to stop

if you stand right at the roundabout exit this can be a great spot. its before the lanes split going onto the autoroute, theres lots of cars going both east and west so bringing a sign is necessary. we got a lift with a sign for besançon very quickly, theres a mcdonalds across the road where you can ask for cardboard or use their bathroom.

there is space to pull over after the sign but many drivers cant see it until they get off the roundabout. possible drivers to stop in the roundabout though, but theyd have to really want to because its a bit risky. we waited an hour with a sign for dijon, but got a lift when we switched to one saying A36. if you want to hitch from here bring a sign for Montbelliard or Besançon. traffic was good around mid day, you could probably get a lift really quickly during peak commuter hours.

space to pull over, even the further away lane has time to pull over, busy enough but cars arent going too fast to decelerate and stop before getting on the motorway. we had two cars stop for us in 30 minutes, the second brought us to belfort.

I waited one hour with a sign "Besançon" to go to the next gas-station just before Besançon in direction south/Lyon or west/Paris.

I have hitchiked many times to go to Besançon or Dijon and sometimes you get ride to Lyon or further!
Put yourself right at the entrance of the highway, there is space to stop!
This is the best place to get out of Belfort to go to the South. Don't forget a piece of cardboard!

Good place to go to Mulhouse, put yourself on the other side of the roundabout, in front of the highway entrance so the car can stop in a little dirt path. Easy to go to Mulhouse. and from there to Germany!

Often going to France from Freiburg.
I use bus/tram to get to the spot, then trying to catch a car. Most cars to the south, so finding a French car can take a long time. Stil the best option I found so far to travel Freiburg->France.

Not the safer spot for cars but it worked. Remember to smile and doing eyes contact :)

Hard to stop cars there, because they go in two directions and they are really fast.
