Easy to go to Lyon, less people going further, but always working, need to ask people directly.―Puckman

Sign in hand, many drivers even at 8AM on a saturday. 5 minutes later I am off to Lyon:)―TajineMachine

Barely any space on the roundabout but I got a ride with a van full of pears towards Chambéry (I had a sign for Chambéry) pretty quickly.―Arcturus

Heading towards Grenoble. Lots of space to pull over but only local traffic really. I got a ride with a local who was driving further east and offered to drop me off at a popular entrance to the motorway.―Arcturus

Only good for local traffic but there is space to pull over. A French man from the airport picked me up and told me there is a better spot down the road. It was still difficult from there too but not as bad as here.―Arcturus

Ridesharing area so many people stopping into the little bay on the side. Got a ride in about 2 minutes with a sign for Chambéry but misinterpreted where he was going and ended up in a bad spot. Choose your rides carefully.―Arcturus

Asked around for one hour or so with a sign with "Lyon" written on it. Paradoxically, this service area is so close to Lyon that nobody was going there, all the people were just taking a break before heading to further destinations. I gave up and walked to the nearby train station (25/30 min walk) and took the train for Lyon-Perrache―BepisFresh

Service station with lots and lots of truck where you can even grab a coffee on the goI was holding a sign with "France" written on it and I tried both asking to the truck drivers and standing thumbs-up on the exit. Sadly, most of the truck drivers were going back to Turin. I got lucky to find a really kind polish driver that was going all the way to Troyes. My goal was to reach Lyon so he dropped me in a service area just outside the city

Very very big toll ! My precedent ride dropped me just after the tollgate, where the trucks rest. I tried asking them but they were not allowed to take hitchhikers :( and people speed up after the toll so they were not really seeing me. So I crossed the toll to go just before (be careful doing this so that the cars don't crush you haha), and people were seeing me better. But even if there were a lot of cars I still waited 30 min on this side of the toll, then a nice guy from another toll entry called me and took me further haha―Anonymous

I was on the side in the grass, between the parking and the road, there is place for cars to stop and it's safe. Lots of cars but I waited 1 hour until a nice person stopped, maybe because it was early and people were going to work and were late ? My ride took me to the huge peage before Lyon (St Quentin-Fallavier), where it was a bit dangerous because I had to go inside the peage. So maybe try to go further than Lyon to avoid this !Also this spot leads to 2 different directions, Lyon and Valence, so it's better with a sign I guess.
