it's an ok spot for cars to stop. we were not waiting long. our lift was not going very far, but took us to a roundabout on the A1. In retrospect, we should have asked them to drive an extra 10 minutes to a service station, as the roundabout (and nearby toll booth) were not good for us to hitch from (3 people)

Very good spot. Got picked to Lille within 10 minutes. Perfect to stand in between the lanes.

Lot of passing cars, lots of belges and germans. I just wanted to go to Lilles and found easily a car. I didn't want to go there at first but we got a bit of a miscomprehension at Vemars so I stopped there and I'm thinking of using this spot again if I ever want to speedrun to germany and further north lol.

Juste avant l'A1, beaucoup de voitures la remontent.
Le spot est safe et clair

Juste avant le péage de l'A16 on cherche à aller sur Lille, toutes les destinations s'en rapprochent

I agree that it's a really weird spot and it was mostly locals but there's space to stand at the side of the turnaround (if a bit windy, also no shelter, so not a spot for bad weather) and cars can stop too. With a sign to Paris we (2ppl) found a ride to Aulnay within half an hour and from there taking the train into Paris proper was pretty easy (and cheap.)

We (2 people) were there on a Sunday, so everything was closed and we only found a ride that didn't go that far. We did find that pretty quick though and I imagine it's a pretty good spot on business days.
As it was for us, it was a small bunnyhop and we were definitely lucky cause there were not many cars, so I'm not rating it super high.

An acceptable starting point, given it's in a big city and pretty easy to reach. There isn't really a place to stop except the red light, but that worked just fine. It was mostly locals but we did end up getting a ride to a nearby reststop. Not ideal but at least we were on the highway. We were two people with a sign to Paris.

Last (or first!) station on the A1. Only 15 km from Lille.

This is the best spot to hitch rides to Paris. You may want to aim for the direct ride to Paris and have a "Paris" sign but you can also play it safe and have an "Aire de Phallampin" sign which is the first gas station on the A1 going to Paris. [User:Garthelgard|Garthelgard]] has hitchhiked from this spot more than twenty times and has never waited more than 30 minutes.

Very hard to get to Paris, people there are going everywhere... When we were trying Paris, many were going to Brussels, and the other way around the next time. It takes a while to get out!

Last gas station before Lille. Very good to go direction of Kortrijk or Ghent, Belgium. Never waited more then 15 minutes!

Edit: even at 1.30 p.m. we found a save ride to Ghent!

This is potentially a good spot, depends on the time and destination though.
To Paris:
didn#t try but i think it works, even though you might have to wait a while. Better in the morning/evening i guess.

To Bruxelles:
go in the morning when people leave to work at bruxelles. in the evening maybe as well, but less people go in the morning.
Don't go any other time. stood there for 50 minutes between 4 and 5 pm and nobody stopped. Nearly only people from around there making short rides pass by.
