the spot to go to saintes maries, but a fuckton of mosquitos here (we were here in april and i’ve never seen this many mosquitos ever) making waiting really really unpleasant.

A lot of traffic going around, but mainly locals, so we (2) made a sign Nîmes, to continue from town to town. There we continued through Montpellier and Perpignan.

Good spot to stop someone who goes to Arles or maybe further. With a sign Arles it was easy. There we continued through Nimes, Montpellier and Perpignan.

Gas station, market and restaurant, and truck rest. Fairly busy.

Spacious place where people stop for gas or coffee. You can either ask at gas station side or walk a bit down to catch cars and trucks all leaving the area.
Though, it took me a long while to catch a ride. Bad-hair day?:)

got a lift of out marseille after hours to this gas station, which has loads of cars coming and going (at least between 3PM and 4PM while i was there). i asked everyone a lift to Nimes with my broken french, and for what i understood there were loads of locals, and people directed to Marseille
eventually got a lift to arles

We (2 girls) waited here less than 15 minutes before finding a ride. There is a lot of traffic and a perfect spot for cars to pull over. And I guess if all else fails, there is a bus stop to take you to Arles.

To Nîmes. Stand at bottom of ramp going on to autoroute. Show a sign to cars coming in both directions along Boulevard Geroges Clémenceau. Very easy. Cars driving slowly and must stop at traffic lights. Less than 5 minute walk from historic centre of Arles.

It's the perfect place to hitchhike to Camargue (Saint marie de la mer, Aigue mort). You can also use the center of the roundabout as your base camp, and leave the luggage there, there is a small "forest" behind the statue. And if you are blocked you can easily camp in there. But mind the mosquitos :)

Raid to non paid highway direction Aix en Provence. We (boy & girl with backpacks, tuesday afternoon, very sunny, sign to Aix.) spent there more than one hour. Different part of crossing. No one stoped so we moved to McDonald's..
