Started with a thumb and then switched to a sign with "peage" written on it cause several cars stopped after 15 minutes but the traffic lights you could take two opposite directions and it wasn't very ideal. got a lift of out marseille after hours to this gas station, which has loads of cars coming and going (at least between 3PM and 4PM while i was there). i asked everyone a lift to Nimes with my broken french, and for what i understood there were loads of locals, and people directed to Marseilleeventually got a lift to arles
