Stood at the exit, first thumb and then sign with "Paris". Got a ride 2 hours north to a good toll booth. Seems to work for both directions, flow of cars was pretty much 50/50 north and south.

Nice spot to head to Paris Toulouse. To head south (Clermont-Ferrand), take the first ride to Bourges and ask to be left in the service area which is a few kilometers before Bourges.

No traffic after 7:30 pm. I had to wait there until the next morning to head South.
I slept in my tent in the woods between the highway and the railway. The place is nice but noisy.
At the other side of the highway there is a shop, a restaurant, showers and a free wifi connexion.

The next morning I was taken after 1 hour waiting and dropped at the Montauban péage.

I had a big back pack with me.

To go to Paris, very good place cause it's a toll. Someone took me after 3 cars. I was already hichhiking and a car droped me there. I don't know how to reach this place from the city center.

It's not a crazy spot, the best is to talk directly to the people at the gas station. There is a certain amount of locals that are unfortunately going to this gas station as well

Good place! I had a sign with Toulouse and someone stopped after 10 minutes. It's a peage so people slow down for it.

August 2023 Towards Vierzon. 2 male hikers with a Tours sign.
Really low traffic : less than a car per minute. We were on the roundabout in order to get the traffic coming from the other side of the road.

I agree there is lots of space to stop but also on a Friday morning not a lot of traffic. I had a sign Vierzon and someone brought me to the peage on the A20 in Vierzon.
