I was on the side in the grass, between the parking and the road, there is place for cars to stop and it's safe. Lots of cars but I waited 1 hour until a nice person stopped, maybe because it was early and people were going to work and were late ? My ride took me to the huge peage before Lyon (St Quentin-Fallavier), where it was a bit dangerous because I had to go inside the peage. So maybe try to go further than Lyon to avoid this !Also this spot leads to 2 different directions, Lyon and Valence, so it's better with a sign I guess.

If you can get a lift to here, it's a good point to leave Grenoble towards Valence or Lyon (or as a last stop before getting into Grenoble). It's a toll, just position yourself next to the barriers with a big sign - make sure it's ok with the inspectors.―Anonymous

a really good spot to go to any destination.I stayed in the exit of the gas station where there is a way coming from the circle point near, and I wasn't using any panel, lot of cars stopped but they were all going north, then I used a panel "SUD" which means South in French and I got a ride after some minutes directly to Toulouse! (we were two persons boy and girl)
