Wanted to get on to A61. Tried it during rush hour. There are some people who take that route every day, for example to Koblenz. Not perfect to stop for a car.

A lot of people going to Frankfurt, also you can cross the highway via a bridge and go north

There are a lot of trucks unloading here in the morning - I just asked the drivers and the third one took me to the next gasstation on the highway. Probably only works in the mornings though

Really hard to get anywhere else than the airport - finally someone took me to St Augustine from where I caught a hitch onto the highway

Stood at the end with a sign, a lot of cars park near the end so you can ask around and use the sign or a thumb at the same time. After 30 minutes a turkish guy took me to a gas station after Frankfurt. Pretty good and lots of traffic.

This was a good spot for the Aachen direction. You can be clearly seen, and the cars are slow from the crossroad. They can also easily stop at the bus station.

I stood at the roundabout on the end. There was a lot of traffic. Had a sign saying Köln. Then a guy took me past it to a station in the direction of Frankfurt. Good spot. You can get here by bus from Aachen very easily, the bus station is right next to the station.

Not the greatest spot. I needed to go in the Aachen direction, but I just needed to get on the main roads, so after a few minutes, I realized I just needed to get out of here, and Librar is fine.

A guy picked me up here and brought me maybe a few kilometers, which helped and definitely boosted my struggling morale.

I asked around and got a car to Aachen, although I got off at Köln. There is an okay amount of traffic.

Tried going in the direction of Aachen. But had no luck. Maybe it was because it was a sunday. Its probably better to take a bus and a train to the first gas station in the Aachen direction, its a short walk from the train station.

Stood almost at the end, lots of trucks and cars coming through. The cars usually go to Köln and not further.

some oil stations here, but I asked for maybe an hour because many cars stay in cologne or drive only to bonn and there is no oil station up to bonn. But it's possible to go on the A3 to Frankfurt from here.

many cars are going the b9 in direction remagen, andernach, koblenz. place yourself somewhere, whre a car is able to stop and it will only take some minutes to get away. dont await very long lifts

Excellent rest-area and petrolstation with a bridge connecting both sides. Great for hitching onto the A3, into both directions. Siegburg main trainstation with connections to Bonn (20 minutes) is half an hour walk.
