Busy gas station with lots of cars going to the Netherlands. We stood at the exit, but asking would probably work really well as well. I tried to use the kids entrance at the gas station, but I learned that an alarm goes off when you do that. Just so you know haha.―Bigworldsmallsarah

I was going south, trucks are all headed east through Cologne and most passenger cars were headed north. One driver took pity and drove me out of his way to get me south. He said he told a friend over the phone there was a hitchhiker and the friend dared him to give the lift, it was his first time.Safety note: a 5 passenger car with 5 male occupants attempted to get me to give them money for a ride at this spot, even though they clearly didn't have space. They became belligerent when I declined, until they saw other people watching and sped away. I made a point of chatting with as people as possible after this in case they came back.

Theoritically it`s possible for cars to stop there, but the visibiliy is bad, and cars like to speed there, and it felt also a bit dangerous because cars like to cut the corner and they drive very close. It`s better to ask in petrol station to hitchhike to Köln.―Savejais

I got searched by the cops here. Apparently all people wirh longer hair and a cardboard sign sign use drugs... but eventually i got my ride after all the people left who had seen me getting searched. Good spot to get to Trier after all.―Anonymous
