Tried this spot last year and quickly got a ride to Michendorf. This time, we were offered a ride all the way to Leipzig by a guy going to Munich. He was local, so I suppose we got lucky. A good spot with ample space to stop, but a bit of a hike from the city center. The bus stop Deutscher Wetterdienst (also along the Michendorfer Chausee, closer to the center) might also be an option, though we didn’t have any luck there (probably because it was getting late).

Not many cars going south. We went out to the side of the road after an hour and when we were about to give up, we finally got a ride to Nürnberg.

Many cars were going through. Good spot for going further south.

A big station, fuel, food, toilets and parking. Good if you want to go south, people aren’t very keen on taking you, you have to go around and ask, just holding a sign isn’t enough.

A lady came to me and my friend, we didn’t event hold our sign yet, she just asked us where we were going and she offered a ride to Leipzig. A lot of cars were there, even at 8 am ona Wednesday. There is a fuel station and KFC.

Not a lot of place for cars to stop, but I guess if they want to they can manage to find a spot

50% of cars going north towards brenner. Good option to stop (bus stop, crosswalk)

I got a lift down the A9 to Hermsdorfer Kreuz early on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of cars, good atmosphere. Before, various drivers had offered me to take me to destinations that were not far enough and people came me to give me water, a tomato and chocolate croissants.

Took me (woman alone) extremely long to find a ride. I walked around the gasstation and stood at different places on the (cross)road. Also had a scary experience with a guy that had purposely stopped on the onramp so I had to decide quickly. Luckily I said no and 30 min later I was taken by a really nice Israeli woman. Maybe part of it being so hard was due to the fact that gas prices were not good there and there weren't many people at the gas station.

good to hitchhike to the south (Munich) or north (Berlin) via A9 or to the west (Magdeburg, Hannover, Braunschweig) or east (Dresden) via A14. Just ask people at the Aral-gas station or at McDonald's. There is a train station of the S10 which goes from Halle to Leipzig and back every half an hour (exit Schkeuditz West)

it#s a service station, great if you want to get to berlin quickly. and there's a free toilet. many trucks stopping by, just ask at the station.

If you get a ride from Berlin or from the South and you want to go to Leipzig while your driver continues along the A9, you can either get off in Schkeuditz or at the airport, where you can take the train (3.60€) and be in Leipzig in 10min. You can use the same ticket for the city transport for the next 2h.

Very good for Berlin, Hannover and Dresden.
ARAL Station (ask around).

Unfortunately not so close to local transport...

Stood here once, going south, in summer, vacation/traveltime, most cars were full familycars, heading north or to Leipzig.

We waited for 2 hours at the petrol station but most cars are local traffic going back to Leipzig so we tried our luck at the traffic light across the road and got a ride in less than 5 minutes.

I started once at the Aral-gasstation and I got away from there after 15 minutes in southern direction to Erfurt. So in my case it was very good and I just can recommend it!

not the best place to start, waited there for hours with asking the people frequently. most oft them were going to leipzig or the country nearby. after 5 hours I decided to sleep behind the gas station and get a car by 'mitfahrgelegenheit' the next day to get away from that shitty spot. friends experienced the same there. better go to leipzig/merseburger straße!!!
