I stood there for almost an hour with a sign saying Köln and Essen on Monday at 11. many cars passed by but the vibe was not great. Frankfurt is a banker city and the people gave me weird looks. However one van stopped after 20 minutes, they were going to Hannover though. After a while a guy driving to Bochum (city right next to Essen) took me along and we had a great ride :)―Arenwithane

nice gas station! At the dressing there are tables where you can eat and relax and if you stop in the summer can even sleep! We were thrown here at about 6 pm and by night we could not find the car, although we went to ask almost everyone, although in the morning (from 6 to 7) we were found to Dyorthmund. Most cars went to Amsterdam, some to Belgium. This is a good spot because everyone goes somewhere far away from Hanover's license plates. In general, the drivers of cars and trucks rest in the parking lot, many people can be asked―Anonymous

Wasn't successful with talking to people for 45 minutes, so I thumbed at the very end of the service station. Got super lucky with a lift to Dortmund.―Anonymous

I agree with another comment, doesn't feel like an ideal place to wait - not to much space for cars to pull over―wazkort

... not even a toilet there! But it’s better than it looks at first glance: Every few minutes someone squeezes their car in between the trucks for a quick pee break.―Anonymous

Good place when heading to Bremen (A1) or Hannover (A2).To get there from Schwerte train station, take bus no. R50 to \"Lichtendorf Poetschke\". From there you can already see the service area.

From Bochum central station, take the U35 towards Rensingstrasse. Get out there and walk up to the ramp.―Anonymous

A great place, but a lot of local traffic. You should at least get a lift to the service area 'Lichtendorf' easily.―Anonymous

I waited 25 min for a car changing on the A2 to Hanover. I think there are more cars continuing on the A1 to Bremen.―Kolodez

many many cars going to hamburg/hannover but almost nobody going direction Berlin. Took me 1 hour to find 2 rides at the same time (for me and to my friends, 4 in total) to go to berlin.―Gustavobretz

Why cross a field, when there´s a road to each side of the service-area? I saw also someone crossing the motorway by foot to go on the other side but there´s a tunnel a little bit south which you can easy reach by foot.―Anonymous

We stopped there on our way from Paris to Berlin and got a car directly to Berlin after 45 minutes of waiting. The traffic was quite intense, a great stop and not hard to reach with transportation.―RuslanShchuchkin

Stop there to go to the south and had to ask many people but it was only after 1h 40min that I got a ride. An other guy just stand there with the thump out and get a car 5min before.―Anonymous

We were here by accident, going to Netherlands, but this is definietely not a good spot to go to Netherlands. But apart from that it's a good spot, it has restaurant, big parking and petrol station and a lot of traffic.―Paczix
