Didn’t take long before I had a lift to Brussels with a car full of Germans on their way to a Jason Derulo concert

I made a mistake and trusted my driver that this would be a good place. It was not. I tried standard hitchhiking, but soon realized that there is too heavy traffic for that here. So I started asking at the gas station, and that worked after some time.

This was a good spot for the Aachen direction. You can be clearly seen, and the cars are slow from the crossroad. They can also easily stop at the bus station.

I stood at the roundabout on the end. There was a lot of traffic. Had a sign saying Köln. Then a guy took me past it to a station in the direction of Frankfurt. Good spot. You can get here by bus from Aachen very easily, the bus station is right next to the station.

Took me two hours to find someone to go in the direction of Liège. To be fair, it was a bad time, Mid-November on a weekday when it was super foggy, but most people were just going to Aachen or North to the Netherlands or Antwerp. So if you wanna go there, it's a good spot, I guess. However the person who took me was super nice and even made a small detour for me.

Good starting spot to get to Aachen and beyond to Belgium or NL, easy to reach with public transport too. I wasn't even there at a good time (Mid-November on a weekday, very foggy weather) and still found a ride to Aachen pretty quickly by asking around.

Aachener Land:
I waited here for about two hours with a sign "England".
And then I've got a lift until London. It was over the hole night. Great lift

August 2016: Good spot, lots of trucks and cars passing by. After 30 minutes waiting I got a lift direct to Paris.

Very few Dutch cars stopping here (dec 2012), much less than I expected. Like said before, most were full too because they are returning from a vacation.

Easiest way to get to Maastricht is to find a driver going to Belgium or Eindhoven over the A76 in the Netherlands, then get out at A76 exit Geleen and hitch with sign Maastricht.

To get to Maastricht you can also find here any driver going to Heerlen-Eindhoven-Antwerpen, after crossing the border let the driver take the exit N281. Parallel road, the N281 has an exit Maastricht (with a petrol station at the beginning of the A79!). Then driver goes on on N281 towards his destination. This costs driver about 5 minutes extra driving time.

Lots of Dutch, Belgian and British traffic going to vacation so you have to be lucky to get a car with space in it. Nice spot anyhow.

April 2013: A lot of cars with Belgian lincence plates (most of them with only one or two people in them). Got a direct lift to Antwerpen in no time.

Good spot, with one exception - Maastricht. There is almost impossible to find someone going to this city. I better went in the direction Liege and then in Belgium on A3 I switched on the gas station to the car going in the south-north direction (means trough Maastricht).
