If you can avoid this spot, do it. Many people stay in the vicinity.
That said, there's lots of space to pull over at the bus stop, and you'll find somebody eventually.

Much better spot than the one further to the East. Unlike the other spot, the parking lots are never blocked due to a zone of "absolutes Halteverbot". That makes it much easier for drivers to stop.
Also, drivers are less likely to be blocked by truck traffic on the right lane, and the can change lanes more easily and safely.
Sign is highly recommended, as traffic can go north and south on the A5.
Look for a ride that takes you at least to the next service station on the highway.

We (2 people) were heading towards France, direction Mulhouse => Lyon. Average traffic at Friday 7pm, but no ride possible for the rest of the evening. Got a ride the next day directly after breakfast directly to Burgundy, France, where we wanted to go. Best strategy here is probably asking people.

Good camping spot in the fields to the west (walk the small road between the restaurant and the gas station for 5 minutes).

Got here late afternoon. We couldn't get a ride, so we decided to spend the night here, in the cornfield. In the morning we stopped a guy going to western France. He took us south of Dijon

Entrance to highway. We stood right behind the tolls. It's better to stop on the left side, since that's the direction to Lyon (a sign might also help). Stopped a guy who took us to a gas station on the highway.

Mostly Basel (those usually wouldn't stop) or Strasbourg. We had to refuse multiple cars, as we were trying to get to France near Mulhouse

A lot of people can bring you here as there is a large amusement park nearby.
